Are you sure it is a psychiatrist you need?

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can diagnose, order tests, and prescribe medication. A clinical psychologist cannot prescribe; they treat through structured talking therapy. Many people see both, because medication eases symptoms while therapy addresses the root pattern.

Book a psychologist if your main concern is stress, grief, relationship difficulties, or exam pressure and your sleep and appetite are mostly intact. Book a psychiatrist when you need a diagnosis, want medication started or reviewed, or when symptoms have disrupted your sleep, work, or safety - or when a condition like bipolar disorder, ADHD, or psychosis is involved.

Still unsure? Our psychiatrist vs psychologist guide works through it, and the decision tree below gives a recommendation in one question. You can also message the support team on WhatsApp and they will point you to the right clinician.

Psychiatrist fees in Pakistan on SehatYab

A flat Rs. 150 platform service charge is added to every booking on top of the clinician's fee. You see the full amount at checkout before you confirm.

Fees run from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 7,250, with most consultations starting at Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 2,500 for 20 minutes. That is short by design: a psychiatric consultation is a focused medical review. The doctor establishes what is happening, rules things in and out, and sets a treatment plan. For all clinician categories and session lengths, see online therapy consultation fees.

An in-person appointment also costs more than the fee alone - fuel, parking, and half a day of leave add up fast. Add it up honestly before comparing.

Paying

Four ways to pay

Payment is taken online at the time of booking, before the session. Confirmation is instant and the private Google Meet link arrives by SMS and email.

Come prepared

What you need for the consultation

None of this is complicated, but a psychiatrist can only work with what you bring. Twenty minutes goes a great deal further when these six things are ready.

  • A phone or laptop with a working camera - or just audio. Video helps the doctor read how you are, but if the signal is weak or you cannot face being seen, audio only is completely acceptable and nobody will push you.
  • A private room with a door that shuts. This is the single thing people most often skip, and it costs them the consultation. If the house is full, a parked car works. Headphones help enormously.
  • Your current medicines, or photos of the boxes. Names and strengths matter, and so do the ones that are not for mental health - thyroid, blood pressure, steroids and painkillers all interact. Photographs of the strips are quicker than trying to remember.
  • Any previous prescriptions or reports. Old psychiatry slips, discharge summaries, blood tests, thyroid profiles, a recent ECG. Photograph them beforehand so you are not hunting through a file while the doctor waits.
  • A rough timeline of when symptoms started. Not exact dates. Just anchors: after Ramzan, after the baby, after the job ended, after the accident. The order of events tells a psychiatrist more than the intensity does.
  • Someone with you if the patient is unwell or a child. For a child, an adolescent, an elderly parent, or anyone who is confused, agitated or very withdrawn, a family member who has actually been in the house is often the most useful person on the call.

Choosing

Which clinician fits your situation

One question, five honest answers - including the one where the answer is that you do not need a psychiatrist at all.

Decision tree: which clinician should you book Starting from the question what do you need, five branches. If you need a diagnosis or medication started, book a consultant psychiatrist. If you need an existing prescription reviewed, book any psychiatrist and bring your current medicines and previous prescriptions. If you need a child or teenager assessed, book a psychiatrist with child and adolescent experience and have a parent on the call. If you need a female doctor, four of the ten psychiatrists are female. If you want talking therapy without medication, see a clinical psychologist instead, not a psychiatrist. START HERE What do you need? A diagnosis, or medication started Book a consultant psychiatrist Any of the ten. 20 to 45 minutes. An existing prescription reviewed Psychiatrist, 20-minute review Bring the boxes and the old slips. A child or teenager assessed Child & adolescent psychiatrist A parent stays on the call. A female doctor for comfort or for privacy Four of the ten are female Filter the list, or ask on WhatsApp. Talking therapy, without medication See a psychologist instead Not everyone needs a psychiatrist. The last branch leads away from this page on purpose.
Four of these five branches end in a psychiatrist appointment. The fifth deliberately does not - if what you want is talking therapy rather than medication, book an online psychologist in Pakistan instead, and read therapy vs medication if you would like the reasoning first.
Medication

Are you sure it is a psychiatrist you need?

A PMDC-licensed psychiatrist on SehatYab can prescribe medication where clinically appropriate. If medicine is the right course, a digital prescription is issued after the session with the drug name, strength, dose, and duration clearly stated.

That prescription can be filled at any pharmacy in Pakistan - no specific chain required, no travel to your doctor's city needed.

Some medicines require tests before they can be started safely. Lithium needs blood level and kidney monitoring, some antipsychotics need blood counts, and certain drugs need an ECG first. The psychiatrist will tell you exactly which tests are needed, arrange them locally, and review the results before proceeding - the same standard applied in any responsible clinic.

A psychiatrist cannot physically examine you over video. If in-person care or an admission is needed, they will tell you where to go. No clinician will prescribe simply because a patient requests a drug by name. To understand how medication and therapy work together, read therapy vs medication.

On behalf of someone else

Booking for a parent, a spouse or an adult child

Many bookings here are not made by the patient - a son booking for a father, a wife for a husband, a mother for a daughter studying in another city. This is common, and often the only reason an appointment happens at all.

Book in your own name and provide the patient's details for the consultation. For a child or adolescent, a parent or guardian must book and remain on the call - no minor will be assessed without a responsible adult present. If it is easier, message the support team on WhatsApp and they will ensure the Meet link reaches the right phone.

Consent matters. An adult patient must agree to be seen. You can book the slot and sit with them, but a psychiatrist cannot assess a competent adult who refuses. If the person will not agree, book in your own name, describe the situation, and ask the psychiatrist how to approach it and what warning signs to watch for. Families do this often, and it is rarely a wasted twenty minutes.

If someone is at immediate risk, skip the booking and use the emergency numbers at the foot of this page.

Why SehatYab

What you are actually booking through

PMDC-licensed, verified before listing

Every psychiatrist on this page is a licensed medical doctor whose credentials were checked before their profile went live. Names, qualifications and experience are visible, not hidden behind a booking form.

A registered clinical entity

SehatYab is operated by Huda Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., registered with the Punjab Healthcare Commission and with SECP since 2016. Read why that matters.

Private Google Meet, not a public room

A one-to-one link generated for your appointment and sent to you by SMS and email. No shared waiting room, no chance of being seen by someone you know.

Urdu and regional languages

Across the panel: Urdu, Punjabi, Sindhi, Seraiki, Pashto, Balochi, Hindko and English. You should not have to describe a panic attack in your second language.

Female clinicians available

Four of the ten consultant psychiatrists are female, and there are female psychologists across the wider panel. For many families this is the difference between an appointment happening and not happening.

A real support channel

A WhatsApp line staffed by people who can see the diary, plus a phone number that a person answers. Rescheduling, payment queries and finding the earliest slot all go through the same place.

Context worth knowing: Pakistan has roughly 0.19 psychiatrists per 100,000 people, and an estimated 24 million Pakistanis need mental health services (Frontiers in Health Services, 2024). Around 90% of people with mental illness in Pakistan remain untreated, and the workforce is heavily concentrated in a handful of urban centres (WHO-AIMS evaluation). That is the whole reason a booking page like this one exists: the specialists are real, there are simply very few of them and they are almost all in four cities.

The slot you want is probably still open

Fees are published above, the whole booking takes about five minutes, and if you cannot find a time that works, the support team will find you the earliest one across all ten psychiatrists.

Questions

Booking an online psychiatrist: frequently asked questions

Open the psychiatrist list, choose a consultant, pick an available slot, and pay online by debit or credit card, EasyPaisa, JazzCash or bank transfer. Confirmation is instant and a private Google Meet link arrives by SMS and email. The whole process takes about five minutes and needs no referral letter, no registration queue and no waiting room. If the times shown do not suit you, message the support team on WhatsApp and they will check the full diary across all ten psychiatrists for the earliest slot.
Often, yes, but it is not guaranteed. Same-day slots do open, and many patients are seen within the same week, because our psychiatrists hold regular clinic hours including evenings and gaps appear through the day. Availability depends on the individual clinician, so a senior consultant with a full diary may take a few days while another psychiatrist has a slot this evening. The fastest route is to look at who has open slots rather than starting from a name, or to message the WhatsApp support team, who can see the whole diary and will find you the earliest appointment available.
On SehatYab, psychiatrist consultations run from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 7,250, with a Rs. 150 platform service charge added to every booking. The most common entry point is Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 2,500 for a 20-minute consultation with a PMDC-licensed consultant; longer 30 and 45-minute appointments with the most senior consultants sit at the top of the range. Every fee is listed in the table on this page and on each clinician's own profile, so you see the exact amount before you pay. Prices last verified 16 August 2026 and are set by each clinician.
Several Pakistani telehealth platforms list psychiatrists, and rather than tell you which to pick, here is what to check on any of them. First, verified PMDC licences - the platform should state that medical credentials are checked before a doctor is listed. Second, named clinicians with visible qualifications and experience, not an anonymous booking form that assigns you a doctor afterwards. Third, transparent fees shown before booking, including any service charge, so nothing appears at checkout. Fourth, a registered clinical entity behind the site, with a healthcare regulator and a company registration you can look up. Fifth, a real support channel staffed by people, not just a contact form. SehatYab meets all five: psychiatrists are PMDC-licensed and verified before listing, every clinician is named with their qualifications and languages, fees and the Rs. 150 service charge are published on this page, the platform is operated by Huda Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. registered with the Punjab Healthcare Commission and SECP since 2016, and support runs on WhatsApp and a phone line.
A phone or laptop with a working camera, or audio only if you prefer or the signal is weak. A private room with a door that shuts, or a parked car if the house is full. Your current medicines or photographs of the boxes, including anything you take for physical health. Any previous prescriptions, discharge summaries or blood test reports, photographed in advance. A rough timeline of when the symptoms started, anchored to events rather than exact dates. And someone with you if the patient is unwell, elderly, or a child - for a minor, a parent or guardian must be on the call.
Rejoin using the same Google Meet link - it stays valid, so you do not need a new one. If the video will not hold, switch your camera off and continue on audio, which needs far less bandwidth and is perfectly acceptable for a psychiatric consultation. If you cannot get back in at all, message the support team on WhatsApp straight away rather than waiting; they will contact the clinician and sort out what happens next. Sitting close to your router, closing other apps and using headphones all help before you start.
Yes. A PMDC-licensed psychiatrist can prescribe where it is clinically appropriate, and a digital prescription is issued after the consultation with the drug name, strength, dose and duration. It can be filled at any pharmacy in Pakistan - you do not need a particular chain or city. There are genuine limits: some medicines need blood tests or an ECG before starting or before the dose is increased, and where that applies the psychiatrist will tell you which test is needed and arrange for you to have it done locally, then review the result with you. A psychiatrist also cannot examine you physically over video, and will refer you for in-person care where that is needed.
Yes, and a large share of bookings are made this way - by a son for a father, a wife for a husband, a parent for a student in another city. Book in your own name and payment details and give the patient's details for the consultation, or ask the WhatsApp support team to set it up so the link and reminder reach the right phone. For a child or adolescent, a parent or guardian books and stays on the call. For an adult, the patient must consent to being seen; if they refuse, you can still book in your own name to ask the psychiatrist how best to approach the situation.
Yes. Four of the ten consultant psychiatrists on SehatYab are female - Dr. Qurrat Ulain, Dr. Kiran Aftab, Dr. Zarnain Umar and Dr. Aalia Akhtar Hayat - and there are female clinical psychologists across the wider panel. You can see each clinician's name, photograph, qualifications and languages on the psychiatrist list before booking, so you are choosing a specific person rather than being assigned one. If you would like help matching a female clinician to a particular concern or language, ask the support team on WhatsApp.
Message the support team on WhatsApp and they will handle it. Rescheduling is arranged by the support team rather than through an automated form, because it depends on the individual clinician's remaining slots that week. Tell them your booking details and which times would work, and they will confirm the new slot and send a fresh Google Meet link by SMS and email. Contact them as early as you can, since that gives them the widest choice of alternative appointments to offer you.

SehatYab is an online clinic, not an emergency service

If you or someone close to you is in immediate danger, at risk of self-harm, or facing a medical emergency, contact the nearest emergency facility right away - Rescue / Ambulance 1122, Police 15, Edhi 115, Chhipa 1020, or the emergency department of your nearest government hospital. Do not wait for an online appointment, however soon it is.

Book the appointment while the page is still open
